Chomium is claimed to help burn fat, control diabetes, and many other things, but according to a program on the learning channel or one of those health channels, it only helps a very low percentage of people, and then only a little bit. It is another way to make money off of those that want a quick, legal way to lose weight. Diet and exercise is your best bet and guarenteed to be good for you. Get the South Beach diet. You will lose weight quickly and safely.

Chromium is not new. It is VERY old.

Chromium is an ELEMENT -- like oxygen or hydrrogen. Actually, chromium is a metal, more like silver or gold or copper or lead. When in its normal form is is a bright shiny silver color -- and that is why bumpers on cars are called "chrome".

It use to lose weight is doubtful.

There is some evidence that it MIGHT be usefull in controlling insulin leveles in Type 2 diabetics. But since Type 1 diabetics don't have insulin, its use there is also doubtful.

But worse, the affects of TOO MUCH chromium have yet to be determined. In most cases, taking too much of ANYTHING can cause problems. For example, "scurvy" is caused by too little Vitamin C. But too MUCH Vitamin C has the same effects as having "scurvy".

And we don't know how chromium might interfere what any other medicines that you are taking. It could make them ineffective, or change the chemical composition into something harmful.

SO be SURE that your doctor knows that you are taking this.

It won't hurt in moderation. However, by itself it won't accomplish anything. You still need to diet and exercise.

Chromium is not a "new thing". It has been in use as a supplement for years if not decades.

Be careful about the supplement information that you find on the web. Sometimes the vendors of these products will set up two or more web sites. One will be blatantly commercial, and others will be set up to look academic or otherwise authoritative with links or banner advertisements back to the commercial site.

I would be suspicious of anyone who tries to sell a chromium supplement as a new development.
